A version of Fate/stay night rated for ages 15 and up titled Fate/stay night Réalta Nua (Irish for 'new stars'), which features the Japanese voice actors from the anime series, was released in 2007 for the PlayStation 2 and later for download on Windows as a trilogy. Fate/stay night is a typical visual novel where players spend most of their time reading the text enriched with music, illustrations, animations and recorded dialogue lines. Too bad that such an important work for otaku media never got a proper translation still. Fate/stay night is a Japanese adult visual novel developed by Type-Moon and originally released for Windows on January 30, 2004. Though I guess you could do worse than reading the fan tl. Which is quite annoying that I often hear that Nasu can't write, but it's just that there isn't a single actual good translation of anything he wrote. Nasu's actual prose just made me want to read more and more and that didn't happen back when I read the fan tl.īasically all the shit that people meme in the west about F/SN goes back to the flawed translation in one way or another so there's that. Then rather recently I read F/SN completely in japanese and loved it. Well personally I read only the Fate Route in English back in the days and while I liked the content it felt a bit like a slog to read through it. If you just want to get what is going on and don't care about prose the translation is probably fine. There is pretty much nothing in it that resembles Nasu's prose in it and I guess a lot of his witty wordplays and stuff like that are lost.
